Last week we welcomed our new work experience volunteers as part of the HYPE programme we are running in conjunction with Bristol City Council's Post-16 team.
Our brilliant new volunteers got stuck into a variety of activities in the Garden on Monday, including cooking vegetarian cottage pie and fruit crumble for the 50+ people that we welcome to our free Welcoming Spaces lunch and writing/decorating the menu board for the attendees.
Other volunteers enjoyed spending time with our Head Gardener Lou, planting out kholrabi into our raised beds. Some worked with the carpentry crew helping to build our new Sensory Garden!
Even amidst the rain on Thursday, their dedication shone as some returned to diligently prepare the flower beds, clearing weeds and nurturing the soil, all while unloading a bountiful delivery of plants.
Next week we are hoping for more sunshine and hoping to get some of the work experience team in Roots to make coffees and serve customers!
