On Tuesday 4th June, we had the pleasure of hosting participants for the first ever Business Nature Away Day as part of the Festival of Nature 2024. In partnership with Natural England and the NHS, this event brought together employees from local businesses to step out of the office and into the green heart of Bristol; to reconnect with nature, support community initiatives and experience the profound benefits of spending time outdoors.
A Day of Growth and Connection
The day began with various morning activities across Bristol’s green spaces, followed by a shared lunch, before participants arrived at Redcatch Community Garden for an afternoon Gardening for Pollinators session. Here, our guests learned how to create pollinator-friendly spaces, contributing to local biodiversity under the guidance of our expert gardeners. This hands-on experience not only deepened their connection to the environment but also provided valuable insights into the crucial role pollinators play in our ecosystem.
A Positive Impact on Wellbeing and Community
The Business Nature Away Day left employees left feeling more connected to their colleagues and the wider community, with many reporting improved mental wellbeing and reduced stress from their time spent in nature. Their participation also offered invaluable support to Green Social Prescribing providers like Redcatch Community Garden, helping to strengthen initiatives aimed at improving local health and wellbeing.
We’re incredibly proud to have been part of this pioneering event and we’re grateful to all the businesses and participants who made it a success.
